Opened my email this morning to see the card production ordered email (time stamp in my inbox reads 2:15 am PST 4/23/08); the approval date was 4/23/08.
Been in meetings all day so not even a chance to call anyone about it.

My brother had horror stories when he was working in CA. His close friend cousin owns a company and he blindely trusted him. They forced my brother to sign a contract in the amount of $10000 if he leaves the company. He spent there for 6 months and found it horrible.

I understand your situation because you had posted elsewhere on exactly what happened to you.
Premise of the Green Card (and H1-B for that matter) is that an American citizen or a Permanent resident was not available with required skill sets for the work to be done.
Scrutiny at H1-B was traditionally a lot relaxed because it is temporary in nature by definition. A lot us seem to assume that Green Card is a natural progression from H1-B. In Employment Based GC, burden of proof lies with the organizations. I have worked with small and big organizations, and I am yet to come across an organization that will go out of the way or makes exceptions to an employee at the risk of its reputation or facing legal hassles.
When I had a choice to make may be 5 years back, a friend of mine advised me. If you have GC, big corporations can employ you easily, but if the big corporations employ you, it is not easy to get GC. (particularly because the HR would not be so easily accessible, but "control" is what he was alluding to.)
I took his advise, and landed a "desi" company, which was not so "desi" in its thought process and treatment though. They were flexible, at the same time, great to work with, paid very well and took care of expenses at actuals. I was lucky enough to have landed where I had.
One has to know very well, what one wants to do and where one one wants to head. If the over-riding factor is a GC application, find out where you get the flexibility. On the other hand, if an over riding factor is a satisfaction to work with big name companies, then you know how it works. No point blaming companies.

So there is a good possibility that PD will not go back much in October 08 for EB2 I. There are about 40-50 k visa nos. EB2 I nos seem to be 20-30 k from about mid 2004 to mid 2006. CIS is capable of issuing 25k visas a month. So this could really happen...
if the visa nos left unused, spills over to FB, how the recapture bill can work, as the nos are being really used in FB. am I not seeing something here..?

Hi, I think the best decision in current market is to go for GC with L1, following are positive points
Applying GC on L1 is faster than applying with H1.
You have your Job surity in India as well.
Current market u need to run for Jobs, on L1 I feel its cool as there is responsibility of you r company to take care of you.
If they start process now itself , you can get Labour cleared fast and I think u can change company after that. ( I dont know GC process but I got same advice, but I didnt listen).
Reason people go for H1 is to have job with US companies than MNC's who pay more, if u r not really thinking of changing company then its better to be on L1 and apply for GC. Also a lot of fredom to move companies.

Yes was similar to yours. The status did change to Review. They just got it yesterday and I saw hard lud yesterday and a soft lud today. I did not know how my Attorney responded or worded it, I just sent him the EVL from current employer.
My status changed yesterday night 8.45 (odd time) , to Evidence review. Keeping fingers crossed.

I understand the frustration for IV to gather funds when it has so many members. But it's possible that IV has that many members because it is a free site.
If this becomes a paid site, you might see the number of members dwindle, and that's not a good idea because even if members don't financially contribute to IV, they do offer their perspectives/opinions/feedback/critique and help others. Those who want to financially contribute to IV will do so whether IV is a free or a paid site.
IMHO, it would be a mistake to make IV a paid site thinking that this will force members to financially contribute. Sure IV forums helped a lot with finding information about I-485 applications, but people have been filing I-485s on their own even before IV was in existence. Which is not to say, IV has no value, but I hope you see where I am going with this....if members don't want to contribute, then they won't. They will go to other forums like they used to before IV was in existence...which will be a step down, but at least they are holding on to their $20 or howmuchever.
Before replying to this, please read my disclaimer below. I have to add it given the fact how hot-headed/short-tempered members have been in the last few days where they will flame someone just because their opinions differ.

Sorry didnt follow up this thread , i dont know why USCIS is asking for colored copies , Passport i dont know but i have seen in clearly through state of ILLINOIS website some where about ITS ILLEGAL TO TAKE ID COLOR COPIES i noticed this when i am taking photo copy color and fedex kinko's person and tore away the color copy and said we both will be at risk as its strictly illegal. I dont know about other states and hence said so , let the RFE come i will then send it for DL; i am sending the one for passport in color though. i enquired with my lawyer he said thats fine just to update you .They might be asking it for clarity in picture i achieved the same using color copier but B/W with light tone effect. It came really good. I hope that useful.

ROW moved 2 months, I will take it. If it keeps moving 2 months at a time, then my turn would come up in 3 years. Highly unlikely cause ROW PD per USCIS is expected to be in 2005/2006 by end of year. I think my PR for ROW would be pretty much catching up.

Now assuming this year the demand would be close to average then. It leaves 14K for EB2
Implying 12/2003 dates movement is very likely as 14k>5k (your number)

I wonder who wants to take credit for the elimination of the labor substitution provision that has been (mis) used by the immigrant community as well as some employers. Labor substitution was one of the reasons for the back and forth of priority dates movement. Thankfully, effective July 2007, the labor substitution rule has been eliminated.
The immigration system was more of screwed-up one till March 2005 (not that it is no more a screwed-up system now) when the PERM was introduced. I think you are absolutely right. The only chance that legals have is through a CIR. I have been watching the trends for the last 3 years and everytime anyone wants to put anything for legals, it is shot down. It is not that house and senate can;t do it but it will be a political suicide. It really doesn't matter - you are democrat or republican. All Americans are afraid to lose jobs. They are concerned about immigrants taking away jobs. In my opinion, things will continue like this at least for next couple of years or so.

if you read previous discussion and particulary logiclife post, you will find, any immigration reform bill will not be discussed let alone passed until it resolves illegal immigration issue

I have H1B from my current company A. My fiance is having no visa so he is in India. He is in IT hardware field.....
Also I am currently searching for jobs in IT hardware field in USA but as he is not in USA so no luck till now.....
1) I am thinking of bringing him in USA after marriage on H4...the reason is it seems to be very difficult to find job in USA from India with H1 sponsorship ...As I have H1 , my fiance can have H4....On H4 he can not work in USA or apply for jobs in USA....plz confirm...
2) So I am thinking of changing H1 to L1 by changing my current job .....Can I ask my new employer to sponsor L1.....or shud I ask my present employer to sponsor L1....what will be good for us?
3) how much time H4 processing takes?
3) If I get L1 from new/existing employer then will H4 of my dependent will get changed to L2?
4) How much time does it take to process L1 and L2...
5) Can a person on L1 change job in USA?

You were right when you have mentioned people would like to get to the next process. Yes, I was of the opinion that the labour clearance was the only hurdle in the GC process. When my I-485 was current and my case was not cleared than I realized how serious the "security clearance process" was. Interestingly many people have been stuck in the process. (Please take a look at the link I have posted.) None of the people could successfully find a way out. Comparing the "Name check process" as a "case to case" process is bit a "over-statement". In the cases you have mentioned, atleast you have an option to contact USCIS. USCIS has an obligation to respond with in a specified time period. But in case of "Name Check process" as you might have already found , one may not expect a response from FBI. Its plain and simple. If my name is stuck in the "security clearane", I would like to know what for ( just like the RFE sent by USCIS). I may provide some information that could clarify their doubts or atleas can provide them to check certain facts to check the veracity
